On the heels of wrapping a successful 21 date tour of the US in early September, the young Dancehall Soul songstress Cherine Anderson returns to the States again, this time hitting the road with singer/activist Michael Franti and Spearhead. Anderson is touring with the massively popular Franti and Spearhead in support of their September 9th release, All Rebel Rockers, in which Cherine is featured on three songs. The first single off the album, "Say Hey (I Love You)" featuring Cherine, is receiving great radio rotation as well as being featured on ads for the CW and E! Entertainment Networks.
Anderson serves as the band's opening act performing songs from her upcoming EP "The Introduction-dubstyle", and rejoins the band as a featured vocalist during the Spearhead set. Just several shows into joining the tour, Anderson's presence has created a buzz. Nicole Kristek of Mel.Opho.be writes about the show at Marymoor Amphitheatre in Washington, "(Cherine) showed off her range and power with slow "diva"-style vocals mixed over reggae beats. A bit reminiscent of Lauryn Hill but with more funk to her voice, we found her to be extremely charismatic, weaving her sultry way across the stage".

The All Rebel Rockers tour also allowed Cherine the opportunity to perform at The Hollywood Bowl, her second feature at the famed concert hall in her young career. In October, the tour takes Anderson to Australia, her first time taking her Dancehall Soul sound "Down Under". The talented artists bring their powerful shows to ten cities in Australia including Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. A video for the follow up single "Little Bit of Riddim" (song and video also featuring Anderson) was shot on location in Jamaica under the direction of the Ras Kassa, so be on the look out for its premiere!
Spoken of widely as a complement to every artist she opens up for, Cherine has been featured on Spearhead's latest album in three songs and will not only serve as opening act, but also as a featured artist during the Spearhead set.
A rising dancehall diva, Cherine is creating more than a buzz in all corners of the world. Her powerful voice has been likened to Lauryn Hill with a bit more funk and this excellent vocal range will continue to take her soaring to higher heights.

Madonna was a fan of Sly & Robbie and Cherine Anderson's amazing remix of the Britney Spears' song "Piece of Me", and wanted the magic of the trio on her new single, "Give It 2 Me" (the second single off her new album Hard Candy). The hands-on Madonna was so impressed by the work of the Riddim Twins and Cherine that she chose several of their mixes to be released. Now available via iTunes are two mixes, "Sly & Robbie Ragga Mix" and "Sly & Robbie Bongo Mix". Cherine was truly thrilled to have the opportunity to work on a project with the queen of re-invention. "I grew up listening to Madonna and in college her songs were huge on the dance floor. It's always great fun working with Sly & Robbie. It's a huge honor to be featured on this remix." Cherine Anderson has come with a difference, not with the commercially viable, breast and bottom gyration, but instead, with deep, soulful music with a positive message.
Her current message, "Kingston State of Mind", is an appeal for civility, and a rebuke against the unjust. Whatever the message is, Cherine always delivers it with a positive connotation. Interestingly, this Reggae artiste, without exposing her body unduly, or without bragging about bedroom exploits, has been receiving international clout. Remarkably, a project done by world leading producers Sly&Robbie had her collaborating with Canadian mega-star Britney Spears for the song "Piece of Me".
She is a Jamaican actress and Dancehall/Reggae vocalist. Anderson's acting career began in 1997 with a role in the local classic "Dancehall Queen", she is also known for playing the character Serena in the 2003 Jamaican film, "One Love".
Anderson has worked and performed with musician Sly&Robbie, Sting, Bootsy Collins, Jimmy Cliff among others. She contributed to several IODA compilation releases prior to the success of her January 2006 single, "Good Love", which appeared on a compilation showcasing the rhythm of Jimmy Riley's "Love & Devotion".
"Good Love" appears on the 2008 Grammy nominated album "Anniversary" by Sly & Robbie and The Taxi Gang. In 2006, Anderson collaborated with Chuck Fenda on the single, "Coming Over", which rose to #1 on the Jamaican charts and remained on the Top 30 for 26 weeks. Anderson made her directorial debut in 2007 when directed the video for "Kingston State of Mind". The song would eventually top the Caribbean video charts and remain in the top 10 for 4 months. Wyclef Jean is featured on the remix to "Kingston State of Mind".
Anderson opened for Wyclef Jean in Tortola, British Virgin Island in 2007. She was a featured vocalist on Sly & Robbie and The Taxi Gang's US/Canadian tour in 2007 as well.
